Hartsburg Named Coach at Top Prospects Game
January 5, 2016 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Lincoln Stars News Release
Lincoln, Neb. - Stars coach Chris Hartsburg was named coach of Team West at the 2016 USHL/NHL Top Prospects game, the USHL announced on Tuesday.
In his second season with the Stars, Hartsburg has led the team to a 19-13-0 record with a conference-leading 38 points.
"Certainly it's an honor, but our players have as much to do with it as I do," Hartsburg said of his nomination.
Ludvig Hoff, Grant Jozefek, Christian Evers and Peyton Jones were selected to represent the Stars in the game when USHL and NHL personnel collaborated to pick the 40-man roster in December.
"I feel like we have some elite players on our team, but you don't get to deal a lot one-on-one with other players around the league," Hartsburg said. "It will be fun for me to see how these players play in certain situations. It's a good opportunity for them to showcase their skill."
This will mark Hartsburg's first appearance on the coaching staff at the Top Prospects game. Omaha coach Brian Kaufman will serve as his assistant.
Stars Athletic Trainer and Equipment Manager Corey Courtney will join the support staff for the game. In his 17th season with the Stars and 22nd in the USHL, Courtney will be making his fifth appearance at the game.
The Stars return to the Ice Box on Friday, Jan. 8 against the Omaha Lancers. For tickets and more information log on to lincolnstars.com.
