Special Olympics Connecticut (SOCT) honors the Hartford Wolf Pack Hockey Team with the Outstanding Business Award. This Award is given to the business that has shown exemplary support through volunteerism. The award will be presented on March 20, 2008 during the annual SOCT Hall of Fame dinner which begins at 6 pm at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, CT. NBC 30 Chief Meteorologist Brad Field and Reporter Tom Monahan will emcee the event.
Since 2000, the Hartford Wolf Pack Hockey Team has supported SOCT-Eastern Region with their annual Bowl-a-thon with the Hartford Wolf Pack at AMF Silver Lanes. To support this event, the Wolf Pack brings players and coaches to AMF Silver Lanes to bowl a total of eight games with 4-person teams that raise a minimum of $150 to bowl in this event. Over the last seven years, the Bowl-a-thon with the Wolf Pack has raised more than $150k in revenue. In addition, the players have their pictures taken with participants, sign autographs, and provide gifts to participating bowlers. To further support the event, the Wolf Pack donates game tickets as raffle prizes and offers them to top fundraising teams.
Thanks to the support and involvement of everyone at the Hartford Wolf Pack, the Eastern Region SOCT Bowl-a-thon continues to be a great success. Their support and dedication for SOCT makes them an ideal candidate for the Outstanding Business Award.
