Manitoba Moose News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Manitoba Moose, American Hockey League affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, announced today they have signed Condors LW Mark Derlago to a PTO (Professional Try-Out agreement). The Moose prepare to host games this Wednesday and Thursday, when Derlago is anticipated to make his AHL debut.
Derlago, 22, is in his first season in the pro ranks and attended camp with the Moose earlier this season. He recorded two goals in last night's 8-5 victory over Stockton, his seventh multi-goal game of the season. Derlago has established a new Condors rookie record with 32 goals this season, and equaled a team record by lighting the lamp in seven consecutive games back in February. The first Condors player this season to make the jump from Bakersfield to the AHL, Derlago leads the Condors with 13 power play goals and became the first Condor to notch four goals in one game on home ice. He was named the InGlasCo ECHL Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 4 - 10, after becoming the first Condor to record a hat trick in back-to-back games.
The call is a homecoming of sorts for Derlago, who is a Manitoba native and hails from Brandon, only 130 miles from Winnipeg, where the Moose call home.
"Mark is a hard-working young man, a great team player," said Head Coach Marty Raymond. "He is an intelligent person on and off the ice and this is certainly well-deserved. We're very proud of him and happy for his success. It couldn't happen to a nicer person."
Notes from The Nest:
The Condors take the road to Fresno for a pair of games on Friday and Saturday. Both games will start at 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on KGEO AM 1230, www.bakersfieldcondors.com and B2 Networks.
Bakersfield returns home on Monday, March 24 for NASCAR Night. Fans wearing a NASCAR shirt or jacket will receive $1 terrace admission. In addition, one of Jeff Gordon's actual race cars will be on hand and is equipped as a virtual reality simulator, so fans can take their turn driving like the pros. Doors open at 6 p.m., the puck drops at 7 p.m.
Monday will also be a CW Bakersfield and 106.1 KRAB Radio High School/College ID Night. All high school and college students receive admission for $1 by presenting their student ID at the Rabobank Arena Box Office.
