Adirondack Phantoms News Release
PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Phantoms today announced details for their Green Day game this Friday at the Wachovia Spectrum when the Phantoms host the Hartford Wolf Pack at 7:05 PM. Philadelphia left wing Kyle Greentree will champion the environmentally themed game with an ensemble befitting his name and the night.
To raise awareness and promote environmental stewardship, the Phantoms will have a host of displays on the concourse during the game, including those on energy conservation, fertilizer and the benefits of planting a garden. To inspire fans to take action, the Phantoms will give away seeds and organic fertilizers for backyard plots.
Recycling bins will be placed around the concourse to assist in the recycling of paper and plastic. This is in concert with an upcoming Complex-wide initiative that will include not only paper and plastic products, but cooking oils as well. The Phantoms parent company, Comcast-Spectacor, spearheaded a green program called "Step Up," in 2007. The goal of the project is to heighten environmental awareness and take action to make Global Spectrum-operated facilities throughout North America more environmentally friendly. The Wachovia Complex, with the help of Aramark, is currently intensifying its recycling program and is planning to embrace additional eco-friendly practices in the near future.
Greentree, meanwhile, will wear a distinctive uniform for the team warm-ups (approximately 6:20 PM). Philadelphia's leading goal scorer will shed the customary purple, orange and black in favor of a green Phantoms jersey and a green helmet. He will also utilize a green stick. The items will then be signed, including the entire team on the stick, and will be auctioned off via the Phantoms website Phantomshockey.com to benefit an environmental cause. Like Greentree, fans are also encouraged to get into the spirit of the game by wearing green.
All Coors Light will be green in honor of the game. Also any fans with the last name Green or Greentree will be granted free admission on Friday night. Tickets for all others, including $10 tickets for children, are available at the Wachovia Complex box office, online at ComcastTIX.com or phantomshockey.com, or by phone at 1-800-298-4200.
