Canadiens Sign Forward J.T. Wyman To Two-Year Contract

MONTREAL, QC - Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today that the Club has signed forward James T. Wyman to a two-year contract (2008-2008 and 2009-2010). As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Wyman will report to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League on Thursday, March 20th. The Bulldogs also announced that defenceman Jon Gleed has been assigned to the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL.

Wyman appeared in 29 games as a senior with the University of Dartmouth Big Green this season, leading the team with 15 goals and three game-winning tallies, and posting 15 assists, 30 points and 18 penalty minutes. The 22-year-old assistant captain with Dartmouth registered personal bests this season in the ECAC for goals, assists, and points. A native of Edina, Minnesota, Wyman compiled 85 points (41-44-85) and 48 penalty minutes in 123 games during his four-year college career with the Ivy League school.

Following an M.V.P. campaign at The Blake School in 2003-2004, Wyman was selected by the Canadiens in the 4th round, 100th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. That season, the 6-foot-2, 212-pound right-winger collected 54 points (31-23-54) in 24 games and was a finalist for the Minnesota Mr. Hockey Award.

Gleed, a 24-year old native of Milton, Ontario, has appeared in 22 games with Hamilton this season, registering two assists, 13 shots and 14 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound blueliner has also collected four assists, a plus-4 rating and 30 penalty minutes in 13 ECHL games with Cincinnati during the 2007-2008 campaign.

The defending Calder Cup Champion Hamilton Bulldogs return to action tomorrow night (Wednesday, March 19th) at 7:00 p.m. when they take on the Syracuse Crunch at Onondaga County War Memorial at Oncenter.
