CROMWELL, CT, October 5, 2008: Matt Zaba made 21 saves Sunday, to author the Hartford Wolf Pack's second preseason shutout of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in a span of three days, a 3-0 decision at Champions Skating Center in Cromwell.
Dale Weise tallied a goal and an assist to pace the win for the Wolf Pack, and Hartford also got goals from Greg Moore and Tom Pyatt.
Moore broke a scoreless tie for the Wolf Pack with a power-play goal at 5:39 of the second period. Bobby Sanguinetti and Hugh Jessiman combined to set up Moore, who beat Bridgeport starting goaltender Peter Mannino from the left-wing circle.
Pyatt notched his third marker of the preseason 1:36 into the third period, putting a backhand shot under the crossbar behind relief netminder Nathan Lawson.
Weise completed the scoring at 9:31, converting a cross-slot feed from Brodie Dupont.
Zaba's toughest tests were breakaway opportunities by Sean Bentivoglio late in the first frame and Mike Walsh, on a power play, at 18:45 of the second.
The Wolf Pack held a 39-21 total shots advantage in the game over the Sound Tigers, whom they had blanked by a score of 7-0 Friday night in Northford, CT. Hartford was 1/7 on the man-advantage, and Bridgeport went 0/5.
In the Bridgeport net, Mannino stopped 22 of the 23 shots he faced in playing the first two periods, and Lawson was beaten twice on 16 shots in the third.
The Wolf Pack finished a four-game preseason schedule 3-0-1-0.
