Dan LaCosta Recalled by Columbus

Syracuse, NY (October 5, 2008) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled goaltender Dan LaCosta.

LaCosta, 22, appeared in 15 games for the Crunch last season, posting a 9-2-3 record with a 2.12 goals-against average and .932 save percentage. He also appeared in one game with Columbus last season, playing 13 minutes and stopping all five shots he faced. In addition, he skated in 16 games with Elmira (ECHL) last year, posting a 7-4-1 record with a 2.15 goals-against average and .932 save percentage.

A native of Labrador City, Newfoundland, LaCosta was drafted by Columbus in the third round, 93rd overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

The Crunch open their 15th AHL season with a home-and-home series against their I-90 rivals, the Rochester Americans. The teams will face-off at the Blue Cross Arena on Friday, October 10, followed by the Crunch's home opener at the War Memorial at Oncenter on Saturday, October 11 at 7:30 p.m. Season and single-game tickets are available by calling the Crunch office at (315) 473-4444.
