Akron RubberDucks News Release
Harrisburg's Hunter Jones tripled, scored twice and drove in a run, and Logan Darnell picked up his team-high sixth win, as the Senators claimed a 5-2 win over the Akron RubberDucks Tuesday night at FNB Field in Harrisburg PA.
Turning Point
The Senators (50-45) snapped a 2-2 tie when Jones tripled and scored on Raudy Read's sacrifice fly in the fifth inning off Mitch Brown (1-5).
Mound Presence
Darnell (6-4) allowed just two runs on six hits over five innings to become Harrisburg's first six-game winner. The Sens bullpen of James Bourque and Roman Mendez combined for four innings of scoreless relief. Mendez worked the final two innings for his eighth save. Matt Whitehouse started for Akron and allowed two runs in four innings. He served up a first-inning solo homer to the Nationals' Ryan Zimmerman who was appearing with the Senators on an injury rehab assignment. Whitehouse gave up an unearned run in the fourth on a pair of wild pitches and a throwing error to fall behind 2-0.
Duck Tales
The RubberDucks (55-40) tied it with a pair of runs in the fifth inning off Darnell. Ka'ai Tom slugged his eighth homer of the year leading off the inning. With two outs, Andrew Calica singled and scored on Tyler Krieger's double to make it 2-2. Krieger finished with two hits on the night and extended his hit streak to 12 games.
