Harrisburg Senators game notes

June 4, 2006 - Eastern League (EL1)
Harrisburg Senators News Release

Today's Game... The Senators finish their longest road trip of the season this afternoon in Binghamton. They enter today's game with a chance to accomplish two things they haven't done yet this year. With a win today they would win their first road series of the year, and enjoy their first .500 road trip of the season. To accomplish both, the Sens send RHP Justin Echols to the mound against RHP Bryan Edwards for Binghamton.

Last Time Out... The Senators rallied from a 3-0 deficit to post a 6-4 win in 12 innings on Saturday night in Binghamton. The Senators scored a pair of runs in the sixth inning to trim the lead to 3-2. They still trailed 3-2 into the ninth inning when Kory Casto singled in Rich Lane with two outs to tie the game. The Senators then rallied for three two-out runs in the 12th inning to go up 6-3. Rich Lane had the big hit in the 12th, a two-run double to break the 3-3 tie. Dan Kolb picked up his third win in relief and Jeremy Plexico retired the final two batters for his first save as a Senator.

Heading to DC... When Alex Escobar was called up to the Nationals he became the third Senators player in the past two seasons to go directly from Harrisburg to Washington. Last year Ryan Zimmerman and Darrell Rasner went directly to the Nationals. Shawn Hill pitched one game for New Orleans but then was called up to the Nationals to make a start against the Dodgers last weekend.

Heading Home... After the longest road trip of the season, the Senators start a six-game homestand on Tuesday night against Connecticut. The Senators play three games against the Defenders and then host New Britain for three games. The Senators are 9-1 this year against northern division teams at Commerce Bank Park.
