Quad City Mallards News Release

Moline, IL – Former Quad City Mallards player Harold Hersh, a member of the 2001 Colonial Cup Championship team, is one of 25 bachelors competing for the affections of "The Bacholerette" on the ABC television series. The season premiere is Wednesday, Jan. 14, at 8:00 p.m., and airs locally on WQAD-TV.

Meredith Phillips, a 30-year-old former participant and romantic hopeful from Bob Guiney's season of "The Bachelor," is the star of the latest installment of "The Bachelorette." According to ABC, she will get to know 25 men, including Hersh, via a series of social gatherings and exotic, romantic dates, in groups of five with some, and individually with others. She will introduce some of the men to her closest friends and family, and will visit their hometowns and meet their parents in an effort to determine the man with whom she is most compatible.

The 29-year-old Hersh was acquired by the Mallards from the Mohawk Valley Prowlers in February 2001 and played a key role in helping Quad City win its third Colonial Cup title. The following season, in January 2002, the Mallards traded Hersh and forward Mike Sgroi to the Rockford IceHogs for Keli Corpse and Jesse Rooney. He finished the 2001-02 season with Rockford, then played last season in Germany. Currently, he is the fourth leading scorer for the Granby Predateurs in the Quebec Major Senior Hockey League.
