Harlingen Resident Brings AFL Experience to Dorados

TRACY ARCHER ASSIGNED TO DORADOS

HIDALGO, TX: March 11, 2004 – The Rio Grande Valley Dorados of arenafootball2 (af2) were assigned wide receiver / linebacker Tracy Archer to their inaugural 2004 roster by the af2 offices.

"Archer brings AFL experience to our team," said Dorados Head Coach Gary Gussman. "He runs good routes has good size and hands at his position." Archer, a 6'3" 235-pound native of Bay City, Michigan joins the Dorados in his first season of af2 action, but brings a season of Arena Football League (AFL) experience on his record. The AFL experience came back in 1993 as a member of the Cleveland Thunderbolts. He ranked third on the team in receiving with 215 receiving yards off of 19 receptions and 3 receiving touchdowns. On defense, Archer had 10 tackles in 8 games played and had an interception, which he returned for a touchdown. Archer followed his AFL career playing two seasons of outdoor football in the Eastern Football League (EFL). He played the 1996 season with the Granite State Warriors (NH) and then the 1997 season with the Marlboro Shamrocks (MA), which claimed an EFL title, a United States Football Association title and an American Football Association Championship that season with a 17-0 record. Archer spent the 1998 season in Europe with the Dresden Monarchs of a German regional league.

The 31 year-old was a top Michigan high school recruit out of Bay City Central High School by Western Michigan University and served as a student-athlete from 1990-1992. Archer did not see any action in 1990, but played in 9 games during the 1991 season. He was mostly used as a slot back and had 6 receptions for 52 yards. He had one reception for 5 yards in 1992. Archer has been residing in Harlingen, Texas the past two years.

Archer is the 20th player the Dorados have announced on their roster, joining Marcus Bradley (def. specialist), Gary Briggs (WR/DB) Will Burch (QB), Spencer Conley (OL./DL), Tim Cook (OL/DL), Nick Davis (def. specialist), Kevin De Los Santos (OL/DL), Michael Duncan (WR/DB), Rico Gardner (WR/LB), Abel Gonzalez (QB) Preston Hartfield (WR/DB), Eric Houle (K), Raymond James (OL/DL), Herman Lovett (FB/LB), Brent McDonald (FB/LB), Jason Null (FB/LB), Manwell Talbert (WR/LB), Anthony Terrell (WR/DB) and Donte Wells (WR/DB).
