Laredo Law News Release

LAREDO, Texas – The Laredo Law have been assigned three potent offensive threats by the arenafootball2 league office. Offensive specialists Martino Theus and Mark Littlejohn are joined by wide receiver-linebacker Randolf Simmons as the newest members of the expansion franchise. The Laredo Law 2004 af2 season begins April 3rd, with the home opener set for April 23rd at the LEC. Call the Law ticket office at (956)-726-GAME (4263) or log onto www.laredolaw.com.

Theus a 6'2, 190 pound, offensive specialist is a three year af2 veteran out of Lambuth University in Jackson, Tennessee who played in 15 games last year for the Rochester Brigade. He had 88 receptions for 1100 yards and 21 touchdowns.

"I am really excited about getting Martino Theus," said Law head coach Scot Maynard. "He is a game breaker in af2. He runs great routes, has great hands and speed. He makes tough catches and gets good separation from defenders."

In 2002 Theus had a breakout season playing in all 16 games for the Brigade, where he set team records with 160 receptions and 1,753 receiving yards. Theus ranked second in the league for receptions and with 109.6 receiving yards per game. He set Brigade team records with 14 receptions and 195 receiving yards in a game against New Haven on May 3, 2002. He registered ten or more catches and 100 or more receiving yards in nine games in 2002 and led the team in scoring with 128 points and touchdowns with 21.

Simmons a 6'4", 220 pound wide receiver-linebacker comes to the Law in a trade with the Peoria Pirates. Simmons played at Alma College in Alma, Michigan.

"I like him because he is an athlete," said Maynard. "He is very versatile. Previously he played quarterback which gives him a real understanding of offense."

Littlejohn a 6'1", 190 pound offensive specialist also came to the Law in a trade with Peoria. He ran track this past spring, but did not play football at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. He set a Marshall record by running the 100 meters in 10.49 during the 2002 track season.

"He is a very explosive athlete with terrific speed," said Maynard. "He just needs experience. Mark has the talent and he needs a chance to show it."
