Idaho Stampede News Release

The Idaho Stampede has arranged a special appearance by the Harlem Globetrotters on Tuesday, April 29, at 3:45 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club of Ada County. The Globetrotters will visit with club members in the gymnasium, which serves as the official practice facility of the Stampede.

The Globetrotters, in town for their induction into the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame, will be represented by former players Marques Haynes and Lou Dunbar and owner Mannie Jackson. Current players on the Globetrotter team are expected to attend as well. The public is welcome to attend the event.

"This will be a good way to celebrate the joy of basketball with area youth," said John Brunelle, General Manager of the Idaho Stampede. "With the Globetrotters in town it's a natural to have them visit our practice facility and spend time with the kids. Being positive role models is an important part of their mission and one of the reasons they are being honored by the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame."

The Boys & Girls Club of Ada County includes approximately 2,000 members ages 6 to 18. It opened in February of 1997, and added a full size gymnasium and locker room in April 2001. The Idaho Stampede, a member of the Continental Basketball Association, utilizes the facility for training camp and in-season practice.
