HarbourCats Release 2013 West Coast League Schedule
December 6, 2012 - West Coast League (WCL)
Victoria HabourCats News Release
Victoria, BC - The Victoria HarbourCats are pleased to announce the team's inaugural 2013 West Coast League schedule.
Opening day at Royal Athletic Park will be Wednesday June 5th, 2013 as the HarbourCats entertain their provincial rivals the Kelowna Falcons in the first game of a three game series.
"We are looking forward to playing all 10 other WCL teams in our first season," said General Manager Holly Jones. "We will announce our promotional schedule in the coming months as we continue to introduce new sponsors and dream up exciting game-night themes."
The HarbourCats will stay at home to play the Medford Rogues - the West Coast League's second expansion team for 2013 - in a three game series on Tuesday June 11th through Thursday June 13th before heading out on their first road trip to Kelowna.
The WCL was previously divided into East and West divisions, but it has been realigned into North and South divisions for 2013. Teams in the North include Victoria, Kelowna, Bellingham, Wenatchee and Walla Walla. The South includes Medford, Klamath Falls, Bend, Corvallis, Cowlitz and Kitsap. With the reorganization there will still be significant inter-divisional play, with Corvallis, Bend, Klamath Falls and Medford all slated to visit Victoria in 2013.
"We are thrilled to have Victoria in the West Coast League and can't wait to visit in late July," said Bre Kerkvliet, General Manager of the Corvallis Knights. "The Knights are eager to come up and see friends, enjoy Victoria and battle the HarbourCats!"
The HarbourCats will have five road trips in 2013, playing all teams except the Bend Elks and the Corvallis Knights. The longest road trip will also be six games, which happens four times in the season.
Over half (15) of the HarbourCats home league games this season will be played on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. There are two games scheduled for Mondays, three for Tuesdays, four for Wednesdays and three for Thursdays. Home game times are not yet confirmed but will likely be 6:30 or 7:00 pm on weeknights and Saturdays and 1:00 pm or 4:00 pm on Sundays.
