Victoria HabourCats News Release

Hello, bats, great to see you again.

The Victoria HarbourCats found their offensive stroke on Monday, matched it with a spotless pitching performance, and rode the combination to a 10-0 win over the Kitsap BlueJackets in front of an energetic crowd of 1,034 at Sports Traders Diamond at RAP.

The HarbourCats improve to 6-7 at home and 9-16 overall, going into Tuesday and Wednesday home games that will complete the series with the BlueJackets -- before heading back to Oregon for a six-game road trip through Klamath Falls and Medford.

Victoria pounded out 12 hits, including AJ Alcantara going 3-4 with a two-run home run. Scott Jarvis was 1-4 with four driven in and a pair of runs, Ben Polshuk was 2-3, Michael Gretler 2-4 with two RBIs, Torin Goldstein was 1-3 with two runs, and Jake Pries 2-4 with a run.

The HarbourCats made two errors, but they didn't impact as the offence put up four runs in the second and six more in the third. Kitsap managed seven hits, but made three errors.

Austin Dondanville earned the win with six innings of five-hit ball, striking out three and walking one. Josh Walker gave up two hits in three innings with four strikeouts and two walks.

The HarbourCats will go for a second win on Tuesday on Luv Salon Game Night, presented by Black Press, with some of the HarbourCats players getting their chests waxed after the game, and others getting haircuts on the field. It's Salute to Rotary Night with area Rotary Clubs being recognized for the work they do in the community.

On Winning Wednesday with Spinnakers, the HarbourCats welcome the more than 2,000 delegates to the BC Elders Conference, taking place at Panorama Rec Centre.

Jonathan Buckley starts on the mound on Tuesday for the HarbourCats, with Matt Blais scheduled to go on Wednesday.
