
Hanson Selected to CHL Al-Rookie Team

Wichita, KS (March 18th) - T he Central Hockey League announced today this year's CHL All-Rookie Team and forward Greger Hanson has been recognized among the group. Hanson becomes the first Thunder rookie to be selected to the CHL All-Rookie Team. He is one of five finalists for the Rookie of the Year award that will be announced tomorrow afternoon.
Hanson, 25, joined Wichita at the end of training camp after starting the season in Trenton of the ECHL. The Lidingo, Sweden native recorded a point a game before suffering an injury that has kept him out of the line-up since early February. In 44 games, he has 21 goals, 23 assists and is a +13. He started the season with a bang, racking up seven points in his first three games including a five-point performance on October 20th against Tulsa. Before being placed on IR, Hanson was in the middle of a six-game point streak where he recorded 12 points (6g, 6a) in that span. He registered another five-point outing on January 26th and also tallied his first pro hat trick that same night. The 5-foot-10, 185-pounder has six game winning goals including one 11 seconds into overtime on December 28th against Missouri and leads all rookies in shots (200).
Hanson played his college hockey at Northern Michigan University, tallying 112 points (40g, 72a) in 161 games over four seasons. He spent 24 games last season in Sweden before coming back state-side. The CHL All-Rookie Team was voted on by CHL Head Coaches.
