Hansen's exploits earn NAHL Defensive Player of the Week honors

A fine two-way performance from Texarkana defenseman Eric Hansen helped the Bandits to a 3-0 record last week and earned Hansen Sher-wood NAHL Defensive Player of the Week honors for Week 17 of the season. On January 25, Hansen scored the overtime game-winner against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. Two nights later, the Austin, Minnesota, native got another game-winner over Fairbanks in a 3-2 victory. On January 30, he tallied a goal and assist in a 5-2 win over the Springfield Spirit. For the week, Hansen had a plus-5 rating as the Bandits moved to four points behind Texas in the South Division standings.

Runner-up: Dan DiLeo, Wichita Falls goaltender, won both games against the Springfield Jr. Blues, stopping 78 of 83 shots.

Also nominated: Joe Beaudry, Soo; Nick Bydal, Bismark; Matt Krug, Texas; Josh Meyers, Bozeman.
