Jupiter Hammerheads News Release

JUPITER, FL - Trevor Williams pitched well for the second straight outing and the Hammerhead bats were hot from the get go as Jupiter beat Palm Beach 5-3 on Wednesday to earn a sweep of the season's first Fins vs. Feathers series.

It was a career night for Jupiter's opening night starter. Williams pitched a career-high seven innings and struck out a career-high seven in the win. He allowed just one run, on a RBI single by David Washington in the fifth inning.

Williams' teammates supported from the first at bat of the game. The Sharks started out the bottom of the first with five straight singles off of Joe Cuda as they took an early 2-0 lead. Base hits of the bats of Colin Moran and Viosergy Rosa drove in the runs in the frame.

Jupiter would double the lead in the fourth inning when Matt Juengel reached on a two-out single and then scored when Blake Barber sliced a double over the head of the left fielder. Barber would later score when Ryan Goetz hit a single up the box.

Goetz would plate Viosergy Rosa in the fifth inning when he reached on a single that deflected off the glove of the pitcher.

The score would remain 5-1 until the Cards rallied for a pair of runs off of Brian Ellington in the ninth inning, the first two runs he allowed all year. Joseph O'Gara would come in for the final two outs as he picked up his fourth save of the year.

A night after getting 16 hits off of the Cards on Tuesday, Jupiter collected 13 base knocks on Wednesday. Austin Barnes, Juengel, Barber and Goetz had two hits apiece.

Juengel extended his hitting streak to 10 games after his 2-for-3 performance in the win.

The Hammerheads will hit the road on Thursday to begin a three-game series with the Charlotte Stone Crabs. The team will return to Roger Dean Stadium on Sunday to take on the Palm Beach Cardinals in another edition of the Fins vs. Feathers series. Jupiter currently leads the series three games to none with 15 left to play on the year.
