Hamilton Bulldogs News Release


The Hamilton Bulldogs (American Hockey League affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) will compete in three hometown tilts this week. On Wednesday, February 4th the Bulldogs will play host to the Syracuse Crunch (AHL affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets) at 7:30 p.m. Then on Friday, February 6th at 7:30 p.m. Hamilton will take on the Binghamton Senators (AHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators). Wrapping up the week the Bulldogs will face off against one of their North Division rivals the Lake Erie Monsters (AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche) on Sunday, February 8th at 5:00 p.m.

The Bulldogs suffered defeat in both match-ups last week, bringing their record to 28-18-2-0. The ‘Dogs took on their QEW rivals the Toronto Marlies on Friday, January 30th at Ricoh Coliseum and came up short in a 4-2 loss. Hamilton traveled to Cleveland for a game on Saturday, January 31st against the Lake Erie Monsters at Quicken Loans Arena, and were defeated again in a 3-1 losing effort.

- Hamilton is 11-2-0-0-1 in 14 all-time meetings against Lake Erie

- LW Chris Durno is leading the Monsters with 26 points (ten goals, 16 assists) in 43 games

ALUMNI WATCH:

There are currently over 40 former Bulldogs in the NHL at this time. Over 60 percent of the players on Hamilton's all-time roster have played in a minimum of one NHL game. Three former Bulldogs head or assistant coaches (Doug Jarvis, Claude Julien, and Geoff Ward) are currently in a coaching capacity in the NHL. Here are a few highlights and accomplishments of ex-‘Dogs from this past week:

- Montreal LW Andrei Kostitsyn tallied two points this past week with a goal in a 4-3 victory over Los Angeles (Jan. 31), and an assist in a 3-1 loss to Boston (Feb. 1)

- Dallas C Mike Ribeiro picked up four more points last week with two assists in a 2-0 win over Atlanta (Jan. 27), an assist in a 4-2 victory to Detroit (Jan. 29), and an assist in a 7-3 win over Columbus (Jan. 31)

- Los Angeles C Jarret Stoll earned three points this past week with a goal in a 5-2 win over Chicago (Jan. 29), and a goal and an assist in a 4-3 loss to Montreal (Jan. 31)

- Toronto C Mikhail Grabovski picked up two points last week with a goal and an assist in a 7-4 win over Colorado (Jan. 29)

- Dallas C Steve Ott earned five points last week with a goal and an assist in a 2-0 win over Atlanta (Jan. 27), a goal and an assist in a 4-2 victory over Detroit (Jan. 29), and a goal in a 7-3 win over Columbus (Jan. 31)

In addition Cable 14 will air live broadcasts 12 of club's 39 home games at Copps Coliseum. In a joint venture with Mohawk College, Cable 14 will also broadcast the 27 Hamilton Bulldogs' home games not being shown live in their entirety as 'Dogs-in-an-Hour at 11:00 p.m. on the night of the game.

Cable 14 will also carry Rogers Television's live coverage of five Hamilton Bulldogs versus Toronto Marlies games at Ricoh Coliseum.

BULLDOUGS FOUNDATION: Ben Maxwell was named as the Community Player of the Month for December. Ben has been actively involved in the community and spent his free time making a difference in the lives of children. On December 9th, he took part in the Bulldogs annual visit to McMaster Children's Hospital, signing autographs and singing Christmas carols. He also visited schools throughout the city, awarding prizes to students who successfully completed one of the various Bulldogs Educational Programs. His dedication to hockey, along with his enthusiasm to give back to the community symbolizes a passion to strive above and beyond all expectations.
