Boise Hawks News Release
BOISE, ID - A go-ahead home run for Zach Hall in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted the Boise Hawks (Short Season A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies) to a 4-2 win over the Eugene Emeralds (Short Season A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs).
Hall in his second at-bat of the night saw an inside pitch that was smoked out to left field, scoring Ezequiel Tovar and giving the Hawks the 4-2 lead that would secure the win.
The scoring started in the top of the second inning when Emeralds catcher Jonathan Soto bounced an RBI-single into left field that scored Jake Slaughter and gave Eugene the 1-0 advantage.
Boise responded by plating two runs in the bottom half. Trevor Boone sent a sacrifice fly into center field to tie the ballgame. Bladimir Restituyo then stole third but the throw went outside and squirted away from the third baseman and Restituyo raced home to make it 2-1 Hawks.
Emeralds left fielder Edmond Americaan tied the game on an RBI-double into left in the top of the seventh. In the home half, Hall blasted his second home run of the season to finalize the 4-2 win for Boise.
Jacob Wallace secured his fifth save of the year and now leads the Northwest League. He worked out of a situation where runners were at first and third as Americaan grounded out to the shortstop for the ending play.
The Hawks will take on the Emeralds in the rubber game of the series tomorrow night at 7:15 from Memorial Stadium.
