
Hall Stays Perfect with Win

Marion, IL - Behind the Miners' bats and Cody Hall, the Miners defeated the RiverHawks 9-4 to take the series at Rent One Park. Hall gave up nine hits and three runs (two earned) and struck out two. The Miners are now 11-0 in Hall's starts this season.
Rockford jumped out to an early 2-0 lead off Hall in the top of the first inning as center fielder Brandon Anderson hit a one out triple to set up a base hit and RBI by Evan Button. Button would later score on a two out single by designated hitter Jet Butler.
The Miners would come storming back off Rockford's starter Cody Hallahan as Cory Harrilchak hit a lead off home run to bring the Miners within one run. Two outs later, Gerardo Avila hit his second home run as a Miner to tie the game at two. Carlos Mendez kept the inning alive with a two out single and would move to third on a ground rule double by Chris Anderson. Jake Kaase would clear the bases with a two RBI double to give the Miners a 4-2 lead.
The Miners would score two more runs in the bottom of the second inning as Gerardo Avila hit a two RBI single off Hallahan to give the Miners a 6-2 lead. Hallahan would pitch into the third inning for the RiverHawks, giving up 12 hits and eight runs. The Miners would add two more runs in the bottom of the third off Hallahan with RBI singles by Cory Harrilchak and Alvaro Ramirez to give the Miners a 8-2 lead.
The RiverHawks scored a run in the top of the sixth inning off an error by Gerardo Avila to make it a 8-3 game. They would score one more run in the top of the seventh inning of Nick Cicio when Even Button hit a solo home run, his second of the series to bring the RiverHawks within four.
The Miners would add one more run in the bottom of the eighth inning off RiverHawks reliever Andrew Armstrong as Carlos Mendez hit a base hit and RBI to give the Miners a 9-4 lead. Gabriel Shaw pitched a scoreless eighth inning and Steven Grife closed out the game in the ninth to give the Miners the win over Rockford.
The Miners improve to 44-31 on the season with the win. They welcome in the Gateway Grizzlies for a three game set tomorrow night at Rent One Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
