Hagens and BayBears Top Biscuits 5-3

MONTGOMERY, AL -- RHP Bradin Hagens (6-3) pitched seven innings of four-hit ball as the Mobile BayBears (43-28) topped Montgomery Biscuits (36-36) with a 5-3 win Thursday night at Riverwalk stadium.

Hagens rebounded from his last start in which he allowed a career high in hits (11) and runs (9) with a strong performance against the Biscuits in his first outing back since the 2014 Southern League All-Star Break. The righty limited the Montgomery bats to just one earned run on four hits, walking three and striking out three over 7.0 innings on the mound to win his sixth game in his last seven starts.

Montgomery broke a scoreless tie, posting two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning when Joey Rickard walked and scored on RBI single from Jake Hager and Willi Argo scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Cameron Seitzer.

The BayBears even the score in the top of the seventh inning when Jake Lamb scored on a sacrifice fly from Gerson Montilla with the bases loaded and Dustin Martin tied the game with a pinch-hit RBI single Mobile then took a 5-2 lead scoring three runs in the top of the eighth inning. Evan Marzilli scored on a RBI double from Tom Belza and Belza was plated by Lamb's run-scoring triple. The final BayBears run came from Garret Weber, driving home Lamb with a RBI single of his own

The Biscuits would score one final run in the bottom of the ninth inning and bring the winning run to the plate but ultimately RHP Kaleb Fleck earned his five save of the season, preserving the 5-3 Mobile victory.

Mobile and Montgomery continue the five-game series with game three Saturday night with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 PM. The Biscuits will send RHP Victor Mateo (7-4, 3.73) to the mound. RHP Charles Brewer (3-1, 2.53 ERA) will take the hill for the BayBears.
