Aberdeen Wings News Release
The first period would be a hard fought battle back and forth, with no scoring. The Aberdeen Wings could not convert on 3 power plays in the first. During the second period, #10 Tanner Okeson (D-Roseau, MN) would put the Wings on top 1-0, unassisted. It is the first goal of Okeson's young NAHL career. A few minutes later, Bismarck would answer with a goal making it 1-1 in the 2nd. At the 9:01 mark in the second period, #16 Kyle Haak (F-Okemos, MI) would score with assists from #15 Jordan Heller (F-Bemidji, MN) and #11 TJ Roo (F-Champlin Park, MN). At the 14:25 mark, #4 Jake Horton (D-Plymouth, MN) would blast a goal from the blue line for his 7th goal of the season and remains the NAHL goal scoring leader among defensemen. The assist would come from #15 Jordan Heller. With a 3-1 lead, Bismarck would answer with a goal before the end of the 2nd period making it 3-2 Aberdeen.
About half way through the 3rd period, Wings forward #11 TJ Roo scored to increase the lead to 4-2. The assist came from #15 Jordan Heller, his 3rd assist in the game. With under 2 minutes, a freak play would give the Bobcats another goal as Wings goalie #1 Chad Catt (G-Williamstown, MI) would try clearing out the puck but would bounce off a player and into the net. That made it 4-3. With 1:01 left, Bismarck would race down the ice and score to tie it up 4-4. Time would expire leaving regulation tied 4-4.
In the overtime period, Bismarck would get two really good opportunities on Aberdeen with no success. But mid-way through the overtime period, with the Wings on the attack, #16 Kyle Haak would dump in the overtime game winning goal.
