San Diego Gulls News Release

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls have re-signed Ashlee Langdone, the West Coast Hockey League Club announced today. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. San Diego also placed Dennis Purdie on injured reserve and loaned Mike Garrow to the American Hockey League.

Langdone, 23, re-joins the Gulls after beginning the season with the United Hockey League's Flint Generals. In six games with Flint, he recorded one assist and amassed 67 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot-1-inch, 205-pound native from Bonnyville, Alberta spent the two previous seasons with the Blue and Orange. In 117 career games with San Diego, Langdone notched 23 points (10g, 13a) and 881 penalty minutes. Though he's played only two years in the WCHL, he ranks sixth all-time in penalty minutes. Langdone is third in franchise penalty minutes trailing only Chad Wagner (WCHL all-time leader with 1,969 PIMs) and Martin St Amour (895).

Langdone just finished serving a 20-game suspension handed down by the UHL for a fighting altercation on Oct. 25. Flint released him on Nov. 1, but Langdone couldn't sign with another team until the suspension would've ended.

Team captain Purdie was placed on the 14-day injured reserve list, retroactive to Dec. 25. Purdie has played in 20 games this season, recording 10 points (1g, 9a). Jamie Black, who's missed the last 11 games with an ankle injury, was activated.

Mike Garrow, top defensive goal scorer in the WCHL, was loaned to the AHL's Utah Grizzlies, effective Dec. 26. In 26 games with the Gulls this season, Garrow has 19 points (7g, 13a), second among league defensemen.

Sandro Sbrocca, after spending the weekend with the AHL's Hershey Bears, was sent back to the Gulls this week. In 20 games with the Blue and Orange, he has five points (3g, 2a) and 149 penalty minutes.

San Diego plays tonight in Long Beach at 7:30 p.m. The Gulls open a season-long seven-game homestand tomorrow against the Bakersfield Condors. Jamie Black player beanies, presented by your San Diego County Toyota Dealers, will be given to the first 5,000 fans. The Make-A-Wish jersey presentation will follow the game. All games can be heard live on 1130AM-KSDO and at www.ksdo.com with Chris Ello calling the play-by-play. The Gulls' Internet radio show broadcasts live every Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on wsradio.com with Tera Black and Jeremy Zager hosting.
