BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors of the West Coast Hockey League have announced two exciting and unique promotions. The Condors "Ladies Night" is back for the third straight year and the first ever "Design a Jersey Contest" is also being held.

An annual favorite returns to CondorsTown with a new format this season. This season's Ladies Night, sponsored by 101.5 KGFM and Cambridge Home Mortgage, includes two separate instruction sessions: one in the classroom and one on the ice. Ladies Night at Condors University will hold its Classroom session on January 22, 2003, from 6:00-8:00pm at Centennial Garden. All graduates will receive a dinner and autograph session with the Condors, a commemorative Condors University T-shirt, a diploma and an executive level ticket to the game on Sunday, March 9th against the Fresno Falcons. The price of tuition is $75. Condors University is for ladies only, and provides a unique opportunity to learn the rules, techniques and terminology of the game, as well as take the ice with the pros. The on-ice session will take place in mid-February.

The Condors are calling out to all artists for the KLLY 95.3 and the Bakersfield Californian Design a Jersey contest for the Jersey Off Our Backs Raffle and Auction, on Saturday, March 15th at 7:00pm. Fans are invited to submit their designs for the jerseys to be worn during the game and auctioned off that night to benefit CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Kern County.

The chosen jersey's designer will win six tickets to the game, as well as an actual jersey, customized with their name and number on the back. The winner will also get to drop the ceremonial first puck at the game. There is no age limit for the entrants. Send all entries to the Condors at PO Box 1806, Bakersfield, California, 93303. "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to design a jersey that will be worn in a professional hockey game," said Condors President & GM Matthew Riley.

"With the Ladies Night at Condors University," commented Assistant General Manager Chris Freshour, "we took a lot of input from participants from the previous years. This will be the most informative and instructional Ladies Night we've held thus far, and we expect a great turnout.

There are limited spots for Ladies Night at Condors University, and they are filled on a first come first serve basis. To sign up call 324-PUCK (7825) or drop by the Condors office at 1001 Truxtun Ave.

Tonight the Condors are in Fresno for a 7:30 puck drop, followed by a game in San Diego on Saturday night, starting at 7:00pm. All Condors games, home and away, can be heard live on KGEO AM 1230, with "Condors Countdown" beginning 15 minutes prior to the drop of the puck. Condors Droppings. . . Speaking of once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, one lucky fan will have the opportunity to represent the Condors fans and be immortalized on a Condors trading card in the upcoming team set.
