GUELPH STORM NEWS:

"BUILD IT AND THE STORM MAY COME"

In the motion picture "Field of Dreams", a voice told Iowa farmer Ray Kinsella, portrayed by actor Kevin Costner, to dig up his corn field; build a baseball park and the late great Shoeless Joe Jackson would come.

Although Guelph hockey fans likely won't be hearing any voices, they will be able to enter a new contest that will give them the opportunity to face off against the Storm in a game of shinny, if they take the time to support the great Canadian tradition of building backyard rinks.

The Guelph Storm are pleased to announce plans for The Home Depot Backyard Rink Contest.

Guelph Storm hockey fans planning to build a backyard rink this winter are encouraged to enter the draw to win a chance to play a game of shinny on your backyard rink against members of the Guelph Storm.

To enter, simply fill out a ballot and describe what makes your backyard rink special to your family. Drop off your ballot at local Home Depot in Cambridge, or Waterloo, at the Guelph Storm's Fan Satisfaction Table at all Storm home games or on line at www.guelphstorm.com. The deadline to enter this contest, which officially begins December 3, is 12 pm on February 16th, 2005. The winner will be announced at the Sunday, February 20th game against the visiting London Knights at the Guelph Sports and Entertainment Centre.

All materials and assistance needed to build a backyard rink this winter are available at your local Home Depot.
