Guelph Storm Announce Name of Second Mascot
Published on November 6, 2007 under Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Guelph Storm News Release
The Guelph Storm are pleased to announce that Stormy has been selected as the name of the team's second Mascot. The Storm would like to thank all fans who participated in the "Name the Mascot" Contest as over 400 entries were received in just over two weeks.
Stormy was by far the most popular name submitted in the contest. From these entries a draw was conducted earlier this week. The winner has been contacted and will be announced at Friday's home game.
The organization would like to stress that the addition of the new mascot in no way indicates Spyke's departure from the team. Spyke will still remain the team's number one mascot, the addition of the new mascot simply allows for more fan interaction.
In order to accommodate the growing number of appearance requests, an additional mascot became necessary. Because Spyke was in such high demand and simply could not devote time to all events, Stormy was created to allow the team to increase community involvement as well as enhance the game experience for fans.
The Storm are delighted to have both mascots represent the organization within the community.
