Corpus Christi IceRays News Release

Get Ready to Rumble! Join your Corpus Christi Rayz Saturday night, February 18th, for "Guaranteed Fight Night" at the American Bank Center when the Rayz square off against division rivals, the Austin Ice Bats. The night, sponsored by the U.S. Army will feature what has become one of the CHL's most intense rivalries along with a series of alternative bouts in various categories. Over the course of the last two seasons the Rayz have renewed their bad blood rivalry with the Ice Bats. When the two teams collide for the final time this season at the American Bank Center, all fans in attendance are GUARANTEED to see a fight!

In a show of support, the U.S. Army and the Coastal Bend Blood Center will be on hand at the American Bank Center for the match-up. The Rayz are proud to support our troops, and on "Guaranteed Fight Night" the Army will showcase their color guard, fighting tactics and Humvee combat vehicles. The Coastal Bend Blood Center will be conducting a blood drive outside the arena beginning at 5:30 PM. All fans who participate in the blood drive will receive a complimentary ticket voucher good for any remaining Rayz regular season home game.

Additionally, the Rayz are partnering with Time Warner Cable to send fans from one Fight Night to another. On "Guaranteed Fight Night," one lucky fan at the American Bank Center will receive a trip for two to Las Vegas, NV for the Fernando Vargas vs. "Sugar" Shane Mosley - Junior Middleweight Fight on February 25th. The prize package includes airfare, hotel accomodations and tickets to the fight, courtesy of Time Warner Cable. Several other fans at the game will win a free Time Warner pay-per-view showcase of the Vargas - Mosley bout.

Rayz General Manager, Larry Linde and the Rayz are promising to give the crowd a show on February 18th for "Guaranteed Fight Night". "It's no secret that hockey fans in South Texas love the passion and physical nature of our sport. On ‘Guaranteed Fight Night', we're going to give them what they want," Linde said. "There are no quitters on this team. We're still fighting for points in the standings and I guarantee that we'll be fighting to beat the Ice Bats." He added, "On top of that we'll be sending some lucky fans to a classic fight in Las Vegas, and the U.S. Army, who fights to protect us on a daily basis, will be on hand for support. It's going to be a fun night. It's going to be a physical night. And there will definitely be some battles in the American Bank Center."

In the final home game of the 2004-2005 season, the Rayz and Ice Bats combined for a total of 198 penalty minutes. This year the Rayz roster features two-time Best Fighter in the CHL, Shawn "Lights Out" Legault, and up-and-comer, Caleb "Killer" Moffat. Next Saturday night they'll battle the likes of former Rayz forward Britt "The Hit-Man" Dougherty now with the rival Ice Bats. Make your plans to be at the American Bank Center on Saturday, February 18th for "Guaranteed Fight Night" when the Rayz battle the Ice Bats.
