Gateway Grizzlies News Release
Nathan Roush allowed one run on two hits over eight innings Thursday night as the Gateway Grizzlies edged past the Evansville Otters 2-1 in front of 4,692 at Bosse Field in Evansville, IN.
Roush (3-3) struck out four and walked one in winning for the first time in four starts. The Otters (17-18) scored their only run on an infield single in the fourth. The runner had reached after being hit by a pitch.
The Grizzlies (25-10) trailed 1-0 in the eighth inning when they managed two hits off of Otters' starter Matt Restivo. Dustin Roberts and Josh Dietz each managed hits off Restivo before Stephen Holdren lined a ball into center. The ball skipped past Evansville centerfielder Zack Pace and went to the wall. Holdren ended up with a two run triple. That is all the runs the Grizzlies would need. Holdren was 2-4 with the pair of RBIs. He now has a team-high 30. Roberts was 2-5.
Eric Ridener earned his league-leading 10th save of the year, striking out two in a perfect ninth inning.
The Grizzlies and the Otters continue the series with a 7:05 p.m. game Friday night in Evansville.
