Fairbanks Grizzlies News Release
Fairbanks, AK. The Fairbanks Grizzlies Professional Indoor Football Team is pleased to announce the signing of Defensive Lineman Tyron Hurst and Defensive Back Ryan Brinson for the upcoming season. Hurst, a 6'2 315 defensive lineman from Delaware State (I-AA), played as a true freshman and won the DSU Rookie of the Year award. Hurst was a four year starter, a team captain and helped the Hornets to the MEAC title in 2007. Brinson, a 5'10 185 defensive back from the University of Akron, was the Defensive MVP for the Stripes team at the All-American Bowl held in Minneapolis, MN. Both players have the opportunity to make an immediate impact for the Grizzlies.
"Tyron and Ryan can become big time players for us this year and will bring some intensity to our defense" stated Fairbanks Grizzlies Head Coach Robert Fuller. "Hurst is big, physical and is very athletic. He has the power and speed to play NG or DE for us, he is a unique talent."
Brinson was a standout RB at Canton McKinley High School (OH) rushing for 4,772 yards on 613 carries during his career. Brinson signed with West Virginia before transferring to the University of Akron to play defensive back.
"I didn't know who he was coming into the All American Bowl but he caught my attention on the very first play and proceeded to put on a show the rest of the game. He is a pretty exciting kick returner and will do some great things for us."
The Fairbanks Grizzlies are proud members of the Indoor Football League (IFL). The 2011 season kicks off in February. Season tickets for the Grizzlies 2011 season are available for purchase. Call (907) 452-5123 for details.
