Grizzlies set for 2004 home opener

FRESNO – The Fresno Grizzlies, the triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, return to Grizzlies Stadium tomorrow for their 2004 home opener.

"This season is expected to be full of excitement and fun for the whole family," said Pat Filippone, Grizzlies President. "We look forward to seeing all of our fans at Grizzlies Stadium this season."

Friday night the Grizzlies open a 4-game series (April 16-19) against the Salt Lake Stingers (Anaheim). Tuesday the Edmonton Trappers come to town for a 4-game set (April 20-23) of their own.

The homestand kicks off tomorrow as the Grizzlies begin their third season at Grizzlies Stadium in downtown Fresno. Before the game listen to the tunes of Mother Girth (old school rock band) as they open the weekly Friday Night Jams series in Inyo Plaza. After the game we'll light up the sky with post-game fireworks presented by NAPA Auto Parts.

Saturday night come early as we'll give away 2,500 Jerome Williams bobblehead dolls presented by Mervyns. Williams pitched for the Grizzlies last season before making his debut in the Major Leagues with the Giants.

Sunday is a 2:05p.m. Fresno Bee Family day, where families can purchase four tickets, four hotdogs, four 12 oz sodas for $40. The first 10,000 fans through the gates will receive a magnetic schedule presented by Frazee Paints. After the game kids 12 and under will be able to run the bases presented by Fresno World of Baseball.

The series with Salt Lake concludes Monday with a "Making the Grade Day" presented by Carl's Jr. with a special 12:05p.m. start time. Also start your week out right with Monday Madness presented by David's Sunflower Seeds and for $12 receive two reserved field tickets, two hot dogs, two packs of David's Sunflower Seeds and two sodas.

Tuesday night the Edmonton Trappers come to Fresno for their only trip into Fresno this season. Enjoy 50 cent hot dog night presented by Evergood Fine Foods on Tuesday night.

Wednesday is the first of six in the Auto Maxx Car Giveaway Series. Each Wednesday throughout the season a lucky fan will drive home in a car thanks to Auto Maxx.

Be sure to come out on Thursday for "Thirsty Thursday," when all 12 oz. beverages will only be $1. Quinch you thirst next Thursday for only $1.

Friday is the homestand finale with a 7:05 contest against the Salt Lake Stingers. The first 3,000 fans will receive schedule poster presented by Alphagraphics.
