
Grizzlies Drop Finale at Windy City

CRESTWOOD, IL- The Gateway Grizzlies wrapped up a season-long 12-game road trip with a 9-1 defeat at the hands of the Windy City Thunderbolts at Standard Bank Stadium.
The Grizzlies (42-39) finished the trip 6-6, despite starting 4-2.
The Grizzlies managed just four hits Sunday afternoon and finished with 12 in the entire three-game series. Their only run came on a Carter McQuigg home run to lead off the ninth inning. The homer was his 7th of the year.
Windy City (47-33) knocked out Grizzlies starter Brandon Williams with five runs in just four innings. They scored a pair in the second and three in the fourth inning.
Williams (7-4) walked one and struck out two.
The Thunderbolts would score four more in the fifth off Grizzlies reliever Shannon Sprouse. The runs came on three hits and a walk.
Shaun Siebert tossed two innings of scoreless relief for the Grizzlies. He struck out two.
The Grizzlies return home to begin a three-game series with the Washington WildThings on Tuesday night. Game time is 7:05 at GCS Ballpark. It is the start of a six-game home stand.
