
Grizzlies crush Thunderbolts

Gateway Grizzlies News Release
The Gateway Grizzlies' didn't need any late game heroics, or extra inning comeback Sunday against the Windy City ThunderBolts. The Grizzlies offense banged out 16 hits, scoring a season-high 16 runs, including 10 in the sixth, as they crushed Windy City 16-7 in Crestwood, IL.
The Grizzlies improve to 25-29 with the win. Windy City drops to 18-37.
Six Grizzlies had RBIs in the game for the Grizzlies with Mike Breyman leading the charge. Breyman was 4-4 with two double a single, a home run and five RBIs. Breyman walked twice and was on base six times. He scored four times. He opened the scoring for the Grizzlies, hitting his ninth home run of the year in the second. Shawn Smarsh was 3-4 with two RBIs and four runs scored. Phil Warren was 2-6 with three RBIs. Whit Pierce was 3-5 with a pair of RBIs. Ryan Sullivan was 1-5 with a two-run home run.
Joe Dooley (1-0) picked up the win in his first game since re-joining the Grizzlies. Dooley went the first five innings, allowing three runs on six hits. He struck out five. Matt Powell and Demetri White each tossed two innings for the Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies and ThunderBolts will continue the series with a 7:05 game Monday night in Crestwood, IL. Fans can tune in on 1380 ESPN and the Grizzlies Radio network beginning at 6:50 p.m.
