Portland Beavers News Release

FRESNO, Calif. - Jesus Guzman was 3-for-4 with a homer, two RBIs and three runs scored and Pat Misch and three relievers allowed just five hits as the Fresno Grizzlies shut out the Portland Beavers 5-0 Friday night at Chukchansi Park.

Guzman picked up where he left off before his May 21 promotion to the San Francisco Giants, logging his fourth consecutive multi-hit game for the Grizzlies (26-22). Ryan Rohlinger added a two-run homer and Matt Downs tallied two hits for Fresno, who won for the seventh time in their last 10 games.

Misch (3-0) was stellar in five innings, allowing just two hits and a hit batsman before giving way to a Fresno relief corps that continued to hold the Beavers off the scoreboard.

Jose Lobaton collected a pair of singles for the Beavers (24-25), who lost for just the second time in nine games against Fresno this season.

Wade LeBlanc (0-3) gave up two runs on six hits and four walks over six innings for the Beavers, who saw their four-game road winning streak come to an end.

Guzman homered to lead off the bottom of the second inning after being optioned from the Giants earlier in the day.

Fresno then added a run in the sixth when Guzman doubled and scored on Steve Holm's sacrifice fly.

The Grizzlies scored three more runs with two outs in the seventh to break the game open. John Bowker, who walked and advanced to third on reliever Jon Ellis' errant pickoff throw, scored on Guzman's RBI single before Rohlinger connected on his two-run shot to center.

The Beavers and Grizzlies meet again at Chukchansi Park Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. (Pacific).
