Grizz shut out in loss

MARION, IL-The visiting Gateway Grizzlies managed just three hits Thursday night in a 1-0 loss to the Southern Illinois Miners at Rent One Park.

The Miners (33-25) stretched their lead over the Grizzlies (30-28) to three games in the Frontier League West Division.

Kevin House, Stephen Holdren and Michael Campbell each had single hits for the Grizzlies Thursday night.

The Miners scored their only run in the second inning off Grizzlies starter Adam Revelette. Brandon Jones doubled to lead off the inning, then scored when Brendan Akashian's ground ball deflected off the third base bag.

Revelette (2-4) suffered the loss despite a strong outing. He tossed seven innings, allowing the single run on eight hits. He struck out six and walked just one.

The Grizzlies and the Miners continue the series with a 7:05 p.m. game Friday night in Marion.
