Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
An early deficit proved to be too much to overcome for the Tri-City Dust Devils (20-37) on Friday night at Gesa Stadium as the team fell to the Hillsboro Hops 5-2. Spencer Griffin had three of Tri-City's eight hits in the loss.
Command issues helped to give the Hops the lead in the top of the first. Robinson Pina, who suffered the loss after allowing three runs in five innings, allowed three walks and two runs in the first. Despite losing by three runs, the Dust Devils and Hops each had eight hits.
Kyle Kasser had a double to lead off the bottom of the fifth inning, which ended up as Tri-City's only extra-base hit of the night.
Coming up in the fifth matchup of the six-game series on Saturday night the Dust Devils will send right-hander Cristopher Molina to the mound. Hillsboro will counter with left-hander Kenny Hernandez.
