Kannapolis, N.C. - Hunter Mense put Greensboro on the board with a solo blast in the second inning and finished the game with three hits. But the rest of his team had just two hits in the contest and Mense drove in the Hoppers only other run of the contest as Greensboro fell 8-2 in the opener of its final road series of 2008.

Kannapolis broke out of the gates quickly with three runs in the first inning. It would prove to be all they needed, but the Intimidators made sure to put the game away with four runs in the fifth thanks to a grand slam by Jordan Danks.

The home runs was the first of Danks' professional career as the left-handed hitter out of the University of Texas was playing in just his third professional game after signing with the Chicago White Sox organization earlier in the month.

Jose Rosario was tagged with his first loss since joining the Grasshoppers after allowing seven runs in his five innings on the mound. Rosario walked three batters and struck out six while allowing five hits in the Hoppers' loss.

Greensboro and Kannapolis will play game two of a current four-game series Sunday beginning at 5:05 p.m. from Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium in Kannapolis, N.C.
