Greensboro Comes up Short to Cleveland

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) - The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, suffered a 117-104 setback to the Cleveland Charge (Cleveland Cavaliers affiliate) on Friday at the Fieldhouse at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. Kai Jones, on assignment from the Hornets, led the Swarm with 22 points, six rebounds and four blocks in 32 minutes.

The game was competitive throughout as both teams found success on the offensive end. The Swarm (6-20) attacked the rim early and often, outscoring the Charge 44-36 in the painted area in the game. Overall, Greensboro shot 55 percent on two-point field goals, which helped keep pace with the Charge (6-19).

It was the visitors who finished strong down the stretch, which ultimately decided the game. The Charge closed the third quarter on a 17-6 run, which eventually led to a 13-point lead in the fourth quarter. Cleveland was a perfect 6-for-6 on free throws in the final 12 minutes of the game and secured their first road win in the regular season.

Cleveland's Cameron Young had 32 points to lead all scorers. Three others scored at least 15 points, including Justin James (16 points, five assists), Wes Iwundu (15 points, seven rebounds, seven assists) and Malik Newman (15 points, six rebounds). Charge big man Tacko Fall finished his night with eight points, 13 rebounds and four blocks in 29 minutes.

For Greensboro, including Jones, six players scored in double figures. Jalen Crutcher and Joe Chealey each added 16 points, respectively. JT Thor, also on assignment, added 15 points and 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the season. Off the bench, DJ Carton had 14 points while Jarrell Brantley scored 10 points in his Fieldhouse debut.

Next for the Swarm is a one-game road trip to Motor City (Detroit Pistons affiliate) on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. ET.
