GreenJackets Shut Down Drive in Series Finale

North Augusta, SC - The Augusta GreenJackets combined dominant pitching with a three-run seventh inning to defeat the Greenville Drive 3-0 in Monday night's series finale.

The Drive (28-23, 53-67) offense was held to just five hits in the game. Jarren Duran logged two of them, and reached base three times in total with a walk as well.

Starters Eduard Bazardo and Jose Marte traded zeroes for the length of their outings. Bazardo gave the Drive five strong innings with five strikeouts while giving up four hits and two walks. For the GreenJackets (21-27, 58-58), Marte scattered two hits and five walks in five and two-third innings with three punchouts.

Augusta rudely greeted Juan Florentino (5-4) with three runs in the seventh. Logan Baldwin led off with a double and came home on a two-bagger by Shane Matheny. After a hit by pitch later in the frame, Heliot Ramos hit a two-run triple to center to break the game open.

John Russell (8-5) got the win for the GreenJackets, while Camilo Doval earned his seventh save with a perfect ninth inning.

Devon Fisher and Rio Gomez threw scoreless innings of relief for Greenville.

After an off day on Tuesday, the Drive return to Fluor Field on Wednesday for a three-game series against the Greensboro Grasshoppers, an affiliate of the Miami Marlins. First pitch is at 7:05 PM. Left-hander Angel Padron (4-5, 4.20) takes the ball for the Drive in the opener, and the Grasshoppers will start left-hander Sean Guenther (2-2, 5.79).
