Augusta GreenJackets News Release

North Augusta, SC : The Augusta GreenJackets 6-5 lost to the Lexington Legends was one sour note to an overall incredible night.

In the opening of SRP Park, the GreenJackets welcomed 5,919 fans to their inaugural game. This was more than the Georgia-Clemson game just two days ago. Fans were lined around the 360 concourse as a fly over from the Charleston Air Force Base started the night out right.

On the field, the GreenJackets looked sharp early. Starting Pitcher John Gavin gave a great performance go-ing five innings and only giving up one run.

The GreenJackets held a 5-2 lead into the 7th inning, when the game started to unravel. The Legends put up four that gave them a 6-5 lead they would not relinquish.

The record books for the first game at SRP Park will all be GreenJackets. The first hit came off a double in the second inning by Ryan Kirby. Followed by another double from Jacob Gonzalez, who record the first RBI in SRP Park. Then in the 4th inning, Manuel Geraldo hit the first home run in SRP Park to left field.

The GreenJackets will be back in action tomorrow night at 7:05 pm. Tomorrow night's promotions include LifeLink "Green Out" SRP Park. Then followed by Saturday night, where we will have our first fireworks show of the season.
