Frisco RoughRiders News Release
Jonathan Greene collected all five RBI for Frisco as the RoughRiders defeated the Missions 5-1
The RoughRiders scored all their runs on two swings of the bat as Frisco defeated San Antonio 5-1 on Tuesday. Jonathan Greene hit two home runs, his first multi-homer game at the Double-A level, and collected a season-high five RBI. Frisco starter Martin Perez (1-1) earned his first win with the RoughRiders.
Frisco broke the scoreless tie in the fourth inning when Chad Tracy singled, followed by a two-run home run by Greene to give Frisco the 2-0 lead. Frisco made it 5-0 in the eighth frame when Greene hit his second homer of the game, a three-run shot. The Missions plated a run in the ninth, but the Frisco bullpen held on for the 5-1 win.
Perez allowed four hits over five scoreless innings, striking out three and not walking a batter. Four Frisco relievers combined to pitch the final four frames to preserve the 'Riders lead. San Antonio starter Cory Luebke (3-2) took the loss, allowing two runs on six hits over six innings, striking out nine.
Greene and Tracy led the RoughRiders with two hits each as Greene had the only two extra-base hits for Frisco. Between Bakersfield and Frisco, Greene has three multi-homer games and 23 combined home runs in 2009.
The 'Riders remain three games behind first place Midland as the RoughRiders and Missions will play game two of the series Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.
