GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Green Bay Blizzard defeated the Macon Knights 28-18, in the lowest total scoring game in Blizzard franchise history.
Both defenses shined, combining for nine tackles for loss and six sacks. Green Bay intercepted Lionel Hayes four times, while the Knights' defense dropped a few key interception possibilities.
The Blizzard defense was awarded the ADT Defensive Player of the Game with their overall performance, led by DS Ryan Bowers with eight tackles, an interception and four defended passes. WR/DB DaQuan Davis had five tackles, two interceptions and two defended passes. Chris Eggleson earned U.S. Army Ironman of the game with 2.5 tackles, including a defended pass and a sack.
On the offensive side of the ball, OS Troy Mason caught seven passes for 95 yards and two touchdowns, earning the Offensive Player of the Game award. Gerald Harris had 79 yards on six catches for two touchdowns.
The previous lowest scoring output by both teams in a Blizzard Game was 60 (San Diego defeated Green Bay 31-29, in 2003), and this was the lowest output by a Blizzard opponent at 18 (previously 29 in a 57-29 victory over Peoria in 2004).
