Green Bay Blizzard News Release
Green Bay, WI-The Green Bay and Albany Conquest home and away series starts Friday, June 25 in Albany, NY at the Pepsi Arena and then followed by a game Friday, July 9th in Green Bay. A bye week separates the two games between the teams. Both teams enter Friday's game with a 4-7 record and looking for a win to stay in the playoff hunt.
Head Coach Brian Noble and the Blizzard are coming off two disappointing losses by a total of 11points. Injuries at the skilled position have increased the roster turnover from week to week, with a total of eight players on either Short Term IR (SIR) or Long Term IR (LIR). The Blizzard is ranked 3rd in Total Offense (280.0 yards/game) and 23rd in Total Defense (290.8 yards/game). QB Chris Greisen is 2nd in the af2 with 61 touchdown passes in 10 games, while missing one game earlier in the year due to a personal commitment.
The Conquest is coached by Rick Buffington, who replaced former NFL QB Steve Matthews after just 4 games this year. The Conquest enters Friday's game 6th in Total Offense (275.5 yards/game) and 24th in Total Defense (294.4 yards/game). OS Tony Locke is the player to watch for the Conquest as he is 3rd in the af2 in Scoring, Touchdowns, and All-Purpose yards.
