Great Lakes Champs Ride Hot Streak into Playoffs

June 13, 2011 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Green Bay Blizzard News Release

Green Bay, WI - Even though Green Bay had already clinched a spot in the playoffs, they had a lot to play for this past weekend as a win would help improve their chances of hosting the Indoor Football League United Cup Championship Game.

The Blizzard battled the Slaughter in a hard-fought contest that was relatively close for much of the evening, but the Blizzard were able to defeat Chicago 65-48.

Green Bay will host a Conference Semi-Final game at the Resch Center on Saturday, June 25 at 7:30pm. Tickets are on sale now at all Oneida Casino Ticketstar Outlets, at ticketstaronline.com, or by calling 1-800-895-0071. The opponent will be the highest remaining seed after the Quarterfinals are played the previous week. The game on June 25th will be a Fan Appreciation Extravaganza as the first 2,500 fans attending will receive a free gift from the Blizzard. The Blizzard will also be giving away $500 worth of gas!

The first round playoff game June 18th between Chicago and Reading will be the game Blizzard fans will need to keep an eye on. If the Express win, they will make their third trip to Green Bay this season. The Blizzard beat Reading handily in both meetings 65-19 and 72-40 respectively. If Chicago can upset Reading, that will send the winner of the Bloomington and Omaha game to Green Bay June 25th.
