Venom Fall in Season Finale
June 13, 2011 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Amarillo Venom News Release
Amarillo, TX 6/12/11 - The Amarillo Venom's season as well as their four game winning streak came to an end Saturday night as they lost to the West Texas Roughnecks 37-24 in Odessa.
The game was closer than the final score would indicate as the Roughnecks tacked on a meaningless touchdown in the closing seconds after a failed onside attempt by the Venom.
The Venom defense held the Roughnecks well under their 48 points/game average, but offensively they struggled to put up points in the second half. The Venom was without Head Coach Julian Reese, as Coach Reese attended his father's funeral in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Venom Defensive Coordinator Daniel Snyder called both the offensive and defensive plays.
"It was a tough loss," said Coach Snyder. "We really wanted to get the win for Coach Reese, but we came up just short. I'm proud of our guys though for the way they continued to fight and the way they handled themselves game in and game out."
2012 season tickets are now available through the Venom's front office and can be reserved for as little as $10. The Venom also has season ticket payment plans available. For more information call the Venom's front office at (806)350-7277.
