
Grasshoppers Defeat the Crawdads, 8-6 on GCS Day Game

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Greensboro Grasshoppers defeated the Hickory Crawdads, 8-6 on Wednesday, April 17 for the Guilford County School Day Game. The Grasshoppers improved to 7-4 on the season while the Crawdads fell to 4-7. Hickory outhit Greensboro 9-8 while both teams had one mishap.
Leading at the dish for the Grasshoppers was infielder Mitch Jebb as he went 2-5 with an RBI. Charles McAdoo followed close behind as he went 2-3 with an RBi and one run scored. Hits for Greensboro were also tallied by Termarr Johnson (2), Sammy Siani, and Shawn Ross.
Yosy Galan led the Crawdads offense as he went 2-3 with a home run, double, three RBI, and two runs scored. Following close behind were Devin Hurdle and Tucker Mitchell. Hurdle went 2-5 with a double, one RBI, and one run scored while Mitchell went 2-4 with a home run, one RBI, and one run scored. Hits for Hickory were also tallied by Yeison Morrobel (2) and Ben Blackwell,
Starting on the rubber for Greensboro was lefthanded pitcher Hunter Barco as he tallied four strikeouts and gave up five hits, one earned run, and one free base on four innings of work. Luis Peralta recorded the win for the Grasshoppers and moved to 1-0 while Cy Nielson tallied his first save of the season.
Starting on the mound for Hickory was righthanded pitcher Luis Ramirez as he recorded four strikeouts and gave up five hits, six earned runs, and one free base on 3.2 innings of work. Ramirez took the loss for the Crawdads and fell to 0-1 on the season.
