Grant Dorn Re-Signs with Wild Things to Coach in 2007

Washington, PA -- The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, announced Grant Dorn has been promoted to pitching coach for the Wild Things' coaching staff in 2007. Dorn was a member of the coaching staff during the 2006 season as first base and infield coach.

Dorn pitched for the Wild Things in 2004 when he went 4-5 in 79 innings pitched, allowing 89 hits, and striking out 74 with a 4.52 ERA.

Dorn was a 10th-round pick of the Montreal Expos in the 1999 MLB draft out of North Carolina State University and played for Vermont of the Class A New York-Penn League that year before moving on to Cape Fear in 2000.

As a member of the Astros system in 2001, Dorn played for Class A Clinton and Lexington. In 2002, Dorn pitched for Class A Michigan under Wild Things manager John Massarelli. Dorn, a Morgantown, WV native, spent 2003 with Mid-Missouri of the Frontier League and split time between Sioux Falls of the Northern League and the Wild Things in 2004.

Dorn split time between Richmond of the Frontier League, Shaumburg of the Independent Northern League and Brockton of the Independent Can-Am League in 2005, his final year as a pitcher. He had a 5-3 record with a 5.23 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 63.2 innings pitched at Brockton in 2005.

The Wild Things, who play in the Independent Frontier League of professional baseball, open the 2007 season on May 23rd at home when they welcome the league's newest team, the Slippery Rock Sliders to Washington.
