"With Sean's experience as a catcher in the Orioles organization, he will have an important role in working with our pitching coach to have every pitcher ready to go in the bullpen each night. We are fortunate to be able to have him as part of the staff" added Pinto

The Miners today also announced their Host Families Program. A Host Family invites a player into their home for the duration of spring training, the regular season and through the playoffs. As a Host Family, the families with receive: tickets and a parking pass to all of the Miners home games, a discount at the Miners souvenir store, in game recognition at all Miners home games, a team sponsored pre and post season event, and an on field ceremony honoring the Host Families at a Miners home game. For more information, please contact Sean Patrick at Southern Illinois Miners Office 618.998.8499.

"Host families are so important to the success of a minor league team. These young men don't make a lot of money and are playing for their chance to get to the major leagues. A "home away from home" is so appreciated by these players. The families that I have known that have done this have told me that they really enjoyed having a player in their home. It really makes them feel like a part of the team and they loved watching the player's careers progress" stated Pinto.

"The host family has been an integral part of minor league baseball for many years now. This is a tradition we would like to continue and are looking for all interested families within the Southern Illinois community" added Tim Arseneau the Miners General Manager.
