Grand Prairie Cruises By Pensacola 12-2

Pensacola, FL (07.29.08) - Pitching by committee, the Grand Prairie AirHogs struck out a season-best 13 batters in a 12-2 rout of the Pensacola Pelicans on Tuesday night.

Aaron Jenkins started the game for the AirHogs . He went four innings and gave up one run, off of four hits with three walks and five strikeouts. Geivy Garcia (2-1) gets the victory, the second of five pitchers to throw for Grand Prairie. He went two scoreless innings with three strikeouts and no walks.

Grand Prairie took the 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning. With runners on second and third, Brandon Carter chopped a grounder over the first baseman Brandon Sing for the two-RBI-single.

The Pelicans cut their deficit to 2-1 in the bottom of the second. Adam Deleo ripped an RBI double down the third baseline, plating Evan Conley.

In the top of the fourth, Grand Prairie batted around and scored four runs to take the 6-1 advantage. Carter, Tucker, and Espinosa each came up RBI's on the three hit inning.

Grand Prairie added a run in the top of the fifth on a line drive RBI double down the third base line for Aaron Garza.

Derek Nicholson torched a two-run homer to left field in the top of the sixth inning, extending the AirHog's lead to 9-1.

In the top of the seventh, Grand Prairie hit three homeruns in a row. Holder, Munoz, and Tucker went yard in consecutive order to lead off the frame, giving the AirHogs the 12-1 advantage.

John Webb (6-7) started for Pensacola and earned the loss. He lasted five innings, allowing seven runs, all earned, on six walks with five strikeouts.

Grand Prairie will wrap up a three-game series on the road at Pensacola on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 6:35 PM.
