
AirHogs' Mattison Sold To Dodgers

DURHAM, NC - The American Association of Independent Professional Baseball announced today that Grand Prairie AirHogs RHP Kieran Mattison has been purchased by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Mattison will be sent to the Double A affiliate of the Dodgers, the Jacksonville Suns.
Mattison went 9-2 with an earned run average of 2.42 in 14 starts for Grand Prairie. He walked only 20 batters while striking out 67 in 85 2/3 innings pitched. The Dallas, TX resident also held opponents to a batting average of only .201. Mattison was fourth in the American Association in earned run average and tied for fourth in wins. He was also the recipient of the B45 June Pitcher of the Month award.
The 28-year-old was signed as a nondrafted free agent by the Kansas City Royals in July of 2002. Mattison spent a year plus with the Royals organization before being traded to the Cleveland Indians in 2003. The last two seasons, he has been with independent clubs including Sioux City, Calgary and the Road Warriors.
Mattison becomes the ninth league player to be sold to a major league organization since the beginning of the 2008 season.
